BinaH Advanced Bible College” is the training division of Galilee International Ministries (SA)

  1. Code of Conduct –

    1. Introduction:

    1. Binah Advanced Bible College (hereafter referred to as The College) is a Bible College for born again believers!

    2. This means that all students are to behave as born-again believers and the rest of the Code of Conduct should not even be necessary.

    3. All references to students as “him/himself” also include references to the female gender.

  1. General Conduct & Character:

    1. A student must be punctual. This also includes meeting dead-lines for assignments and required tasks as part of his studies.

    2. A student should always dress properly. Firstly, professional, secondly, no revealing clothing or inappropriate attire will be allowed when attending classes, meetings, functions or any other public occasion, regardless of gender.

    3. A student must behave in a fitting manner, as described in the Word of God, like ‘overseers’.

    4. A student’s speech must be without scorn, friendly, no cursing, not suggestive, without discrimination or gossiping. A student should act like a believer and speak like one too.

    5. A student shall not abuse, harass or otherwise interfere with any member of the College community in any manner which contributes to the creation of an intimidating, hostile, threatening or demeaning environment for staff or students in general. This applies specifically in relation to the person's race, gender, beliefs or sexual orientation as well as any actions which interferes with the work or study of any student or member of the College staff.

    6. Furthermore, a student shall not lie or bring false accusations against others or any staff member for the benefit of their own agendas, or due to their lack in commitment.

    7. A student must be loyal to his local congregation, regularly attend services, be part of the fold, but also live out their servanthood.

    8. A student must be respectful to his pastors, leaders, the elders and peers of his church as well as any College official. In short, a student must be respectful to everybody at all times. A motivation on behalf of the student from his local pastor will make the difference in the final approval for ordainment.

    9. A student shall act in a respectful manner towards all fellow students, College staff as well as staff of contracted suppliers or providers of services to the College, or their employees, or his employer while undergoing experiential training, and towards members of the public. A student shall not use any language that abuses or demeans any person what so ever.

    10. A student shall notify the College Registrar of any change in his permanent address, new contact details within seven working days of such a change.

  2. Overall Authority of Binah:

    1. A student must submit himself to the authority of the Dean, Registrar or Teacher (Biblical Mentor) that he is receiving instruction from, as far as any request, task or command that is within the boundaries of the Word of God.

    2. All students are required to submit to the authority and teachings of the lecturers even if they would not agree in principle with specific teaching material, until they have studied all related material thoroughly.

    3. However, a student will have the right to bring any discrepancies or false teachings according to his knowledge and understanding under the attention of the specific lecturer, the Registrar and even the Dean of the College per written letter, explaining the specific teaching and the full reasoning in context.

    4. A student shall comply with all other rules and regulations pertaining to his training division, department, and co-operative education programme.

  3. Assessments & Examinations: General Conduct

    1. A student shall acquaint himself with the relevant rules regarding tests and examinations of the faculty in which he is registered. This applies to both written and E-learning exams.

    2. A student sitting for an examination (at Campus or via E-Learning) shall comply with:

      1. Any appropriate instruction by the Assessor of an examination or test;

      2. All instructions printed on the examination sheet or on the cover of the answer book for that examination test;

      3. All instructions of the mentor or overseer on the E-Learning system;

      4. Respond to any request to verify his identity or presence.

    3. A student sitting for a test or examination at Campus shall be guilty of an irregularity if:

      1. He helps or tries to help another examination student, or communicates or tries to communicate with any person other than an Assessor, while in the test or examination venue;

      2. He causes a disturbance in the test or examination venue, or acts in an improper or unseemly manner and refuses to comply after a warning has been issued by the chief Assessor to cease such disturbance, improper or unseemly conduct.

    4. A student sitting for a test or examination during an E-Learning session shall be guilty of an irregularity if:

      1. The student fails to contact the examiner, supervisor, mentor or teacher within the set time to verify his identity as and when requested;

      2. The student relies on sources, people or documentation that is not permitted during the test;

      3. The student refuses to login according to the specified time to start the test without valid reason.

  4. Intellectual Property & other resources:

    1. No student shall make, distribute, reproduce, copy or make use of any material in which copyright resides, without the permission of the author or owner thereof, for a purpose other than for his private, personal study. Included in this definition of material in which copyright resides are teaching materials, computer software, printed materials and audio or video recordings.

    2. All students acknowledge that the use of electronic and online resources is made available to them for academic and College related purposes only. Private and personal use is prohibited, unless approved in writing by the Dean or Registrar.

  5. Property – College & Ministry Partners:

    1. A student shall not maliciously or wrongfully destroy damage, appropriate, abuse or remove property of the College, or from a fellow student or staff member.

    2. A student shall not, without prior written permission from the Dean or Registrar, utilize any College property (including intellectual property), facility, amenity or equipment for any other use or purpose than the intended Bible College.

    3. A student shall not commit acts of theft or damage to the College property. For the purposes of this rule, the possession of stolen property shall be deemed to constitute an act of theft.

  6. Conduct on E-Learning platform & Social Media

    1. Although any action or omission of any part of this Policy will be deemed in a very serious light, the following actions or omissions shall constitute to be direct and wilful misconduct. The College may initiate the appropriate investigation and apply disciplinary actions against such students, which could include immediate expulsion from the course or even complete study program:

      1. Sharing network log-on usernames with or disclosing passwords to any third person(s);

      2. Intentionally bypassing the security mechanisms of the mail system or any other secure website or network (e.g. creating bogus accounts);

      3. Modifying the internal mail transport mechanism to forge a routing path that a message takes through the Internet;

      4. Storing, downloading and propagating, printing, distributing, sending or accessing racist, sexist, politically or religiously derogatory content or material, or pornographic material as contemplated in Schedule 1, 2, 6, 7 & 11 of the Films and Publications Act 65/1996, as read with the Films and Publications Amendment Act No. 34/1999.

      5. Knowingly sending or forwarding messages and attachments that could be infected with malicious codes such as viruses, as well as spam. If in doubt, please contact the Registrar.

      6. Any destructive and disruptive practices either via e-mail, social pages of the College and Ministry, as well as the Internet;

      7. Sending, replying to or forwarding e-mail messages or other electronic communications which hides the identity of the sender or represents the sender as someone else;

      8. Users of the institution's electronic mail systems who obtain access to materials of other organisations may not copy, modify or forward copyrighted materials, except under the specific copyright terms and conditions; and

      9. Using information, e-mails, files, downloads or data to commit fraud or any other criminal offence(s);

  7. Illegal & Criminal Conduct:

    1. Any student convicted of any criminal offence by a South African Court with criminal jurisdiction in terms of the Criminal Procedure Act 51/1977, shall be guilty of an offence in terms of this Code of Conduct, and shall therefore be subject to disciplinary action by the College.

    2. No student shall bring on to any College campus or class any firearm or gun or mock replica or toy weapon, nor any dangerous weapon or explosives. The definition of dangerous weapons includes, but is not limited to, knives, daggers, or switchblades and martial arts equipment.

    3. A student shall not commit any act of sale, distribution, use or possession of any illegal drug, as defined by the Drug and Drug Trafficking Act 140/1992.

    4. Conduct relating to the work of the College:  

      1. A student shall not commit acts of forgery, falsification, nor shall he alter any document, record or instrument of identification, or any medical certificate, or any document he is submitting in support of his application for registration or other types of verification or agreement with the College.

      2. A student shall not disobey a suspension order made in terms of the College Rules on Disciplinary Procedure.

    5. Special rules relating to consumption of alcohol:

      1. A student shall at all times refrain from drunken or disorderly behaviour that disturbs the peace of other students.

      2. No student shall sell, serve or assist any other person to sell or serve liquor on any College campus or property.

    6. Conduct in respect of the College’s disciplinary structures and proceedings:

      1. A student present at any disciplinary hearing shall not, in any circumstances, interfere with or in any manner disrupt or disturb the process.

  8. Disciplinary Procedures:

    1. Any student of Binah Advanced Bible College who deliberately and unlawfully transgress the stipulations of the Word of God and any Policy document of the College, or those who distort, undermine, ignore and do not comply with the decisions/instructions being made by the College Executive Board and also being duly notified of, will be subjected to disciplinary action.

    2. The College may initiate the appropriate investigation and disciplinary action against students and staff who fail or refuse to abide by these rules. Such disciplinary action may vary from a verbal reprimand to expulsion from the College depending on the seriousness of the offence and described in the Disciplinary policies.

    3. In the case of deliberate error in regard with doctrine, living a holy life and neglect of duty, the following process will be applicable:

      1. Any complaint or accusation in a student or staff member, must be received in writing with a clear description of the complaint as well as the full details of the plaintiff. The student or staff member will be suspended from all classes, duties and authority in the College, until a final decision has been reached in this regard.

      2. The Registrar will inform the relevant student or staff member of the complaint as well as the subsequent investigation.

      3. The complaint will be investigated thoroughly by gathering all evidence and facts in order to make a sound decision in this regard.

      4. The Dean or his delegate will act as the presiding officer of the disciplinary board and the delegate(s) who investigated the matter will then testify before the Board.

      5. If the student or staff member is found not guilty of the complaint, he will be restored to full status as student or staff member. Steps will then be taken to restore unity and resolve any conflict between the student, staff member and the plaintiff(s).

      6. If a student or staff member is found guilty, the first steps of disciplinary action according to Matt 18:15-17; 2Thes 3:6 & 14; Rom 16:17 and other scriptures could then be applied as necessary. Depending on the severity of the allegations, the case could also be handed to the local authorities for further investigation and prosecution if necessary.

    4. If found guilty of misconduct, procedures and processes will be put in place with the student or staff member to support and guide him in correcting the mistake according to the Word of God. I

    5. If no acceptable change or resolution could be affected, the following procedures shall apply:

      1. The Executive Board of the College will then make the necessary decisions to terminate the relationship;

      2. The respective student will be expelled from the College with immediate effect, and he shall be held liable for the full payment of the study program for the year;

      3. The status of a staff member as Biblical Mentor, will be withdrawn for a minimum period of 3 months or longer, until the required change is evident to the Board.

      4. If no change in the staff member’s behaviour or teaching could be affected after the 3 month period, his status and even ordination and membership with Galilee International Ministries can be terminated upon a proposal to the President and Executive Board (of Galilee International Ministries) for the final decision.

    6. If any student’s or staff member’s marriage disintegrates in such a manner that irreconcilable differences are evident, where a separation from bed-and-table exists or even concerns of a possible divorce is obvious, or where their relationship has become an embarrassment to the College and/or Organisation, then one or more of the following guidelines will be applicable:

      1. The relevant student or staff member will be suspended from all classes, E-Learning facilities, duties and authority in the College, for a maximum period of one year in order to provide the couple enough time to reconcile their differences and rescue their marriage.

      2. Alternative arrangements will be taken for the College to continue at the local campus and the staff member will not be allowed to minister or teach in any capacity.

      3. It is also further expected from the relevant student or couple to attend counselling sessions at a recognised marriage councillor for a specific period of time. The commitment and cooperation of both parties in this regard is an important requirement.

      4. Upon the achievement of full reconciliation between the student or couple, he could be reinstated in his capacity as a student or staff member after a healing period of at least 3 months.

    7. If no reconciliation in the marriage could be achieved, The College’s Executive Council will take one of the following decisions:

      1. If the student or staff member is unquestionably innocent in this case, his status as student or Biblical Mentor will continue with the College after a healing period as advised by the Dean;

      2. If enough evidence exists that the student or staff member does not live a holy life and is largely also to blame for the breakup of his marriage, his status as student or staff member will then also be terminated. The staff member will also face a full disciplinary hearing of the Organisation.

      3. This stipulation is based upon the first point of this Policy, that we believe we are working with and providing Biblical Education to born-again believers. If that is not the case, then we see no other option than to terminate the relationship with any such student. We will not see our way clear to provide any further education to someone who should then not be in the ministry or be involved with any aspect of the ministry at all.

  9. Appeals Procedure:

    1. The following appeal procedure will apply with all disciplinary hearings and actions:

      1. The relevant student or staff member can apply in writing to the Dean of his intention to appeal to the decisions that were passed during a disciplinary hearing.

      2. The application for appeal must be registered with the Dean or Registrar within 14 working days after the disciplinary hearing.

      3. The application for appeal is to contain all the relevant reasons and evidence why the decisions of the disciplinary hearing are not valid.

      4. Once the request to appeal is approved on valid grounds, the Dean will then conduct a new hearing and may invite other senior Biblical Mentors or Professors from Therapon to the appeal hearing;

      5. The Dean might also invite an independent Professor or Doctor of Therapon as chairman of the appeal procedure. The decisions taken at such an appeal procedure will then be final.

  1. Refund Policy

Please note that Binah Advanced Bible College is the training division of Galilee International Ministries which is registered in South Africa as a non-profit, Tax exempted ministry organization. Galilee International Ministries or Binah Advanced Bible College therefore cannot issue refunds under any circumstances.

Binah Advanced Bible College and Galilee International Ministries has a strict NO REFUND POLICY on all fees. That means that all fees paid to us remain NON-REFUNDABLE to the student, even if the student should decide not to continue with his or her studies. This includes any and all fees or deposits paid in respect of:

1. Registration,

2. Tuition,

3. Administration,

4. Graduation,

5. or any other fees paid upfront or in advance, regardless of the nature or intended purpose of the fee.

Should a student abscond from their studies after paying any fees, they have a 12-month period from the last payment received in which to bring their fees up to date and continue with their studies where they left off. Should they not continue or come to an agreement with us within the 12 months after absconding their studies, they will be removed and no longer be registered as a legitimate student with Binah Advanced Bible College. Any application to make an agreement as well as the mutual agreement must be in written form and be confirmed by the appointed Registrar of Binah Advanced Bible College. The same principle also applies from the international University in the USA Virgin Islands who confers the necessary certificates and degrees after successful completion of a course.

Prospective students are urged to count the cost before they enrol.

  1. Evaluation and Scoring of Assignments


The following terminology is used in this document with specific relevance.

  1. Assignment: a task or piece of work allocated to someone as part of a study.

  2. Evaluate: to judge or calculate the quality, or score of an assignment.

  3. Accredit: to officially recognize, accept, or approve a subject or course as ‘passed’.

  4. Application: the way theory is applied in practise for a specific purpose.

  5. Biblical Perspective: in context with Scriptures so that it can be deemed as being supported by the whole of the Bible.

  6. Score: the number of points achieved for an assignment, exam or combination of both.

  7. Pass Mark: the minimum mark needed to be receive a pass on a subject.

  8. Score Weighting: a level of importance given to a part of the requirements required to achieve a Total Score for a subject or course.

  9. Re-write: repeating an exam to allow a better Score.

  10. Re-examination: repeating the exams and re-submitting all assignments to pass a subject or course.

  1. Evaluation of Assignments

Submitted assignments will be evaluated and accredited according to the following criteria:

    1. Biblical Perspective

  • Presentation is from a Biblical perspective

  • Adequate and relevant scripture references and proof

  • Correct interpretation of Scripture

  • Content must be relevant to the assignment and Biblical references

    1. Content

  • Relevant to assignment guidelines

  • Identifying of core questions

  • Adequate research of subject matter

  • Proper analysis of source material

  • Logical arguments

  • Interaction between sources and material used

  • In-depth research parallel where required to level of study

    1. Application to ministry

  • Links between theory and practical

  • Application of ministerial issues in context

  • Reflection and application in spiritual life and service

    1. Structure, Style and Format

  • Format of presentation (index, paragraphs, titles, numbering, spacing)

  • Structure (length of assignment, introduction, summary, bridging between sections)

  • References and Bibliography (Style, accuracy, references)

  • Effective expression of communication (style, language proficiency, clarity)

  • Spelling and grammar.

    1. Accuracy

  • Was the assignment done with correct interpretation of instructions?

  • Is the answer correct?

  1. Scoring

    1. Pass Mark and Score weighting

  • Minimum Total Score required to pass: 70% (Pass Mark)

  • Assignments and exams will be scored according to the following weights:

    • Assignments: 50% of Total Score

    • Exams/Practical Assessments: 50% of Total Score

    1. Scoring on Assignments

The average score on all assignments is relative to 50% of Total Score - which will provide a “Subject Assessment Score - SAS” to the student. If this average score is 20% and below, the student will not be allowed to write the exam and the failed assignments must be repeated first to achieve a pass mark.

    1. Late Submissions

The ILIAS system allows three types of deadlines:

  1. Normal deadline: Standard Deadline

  2. Grace period: A period allowed for late submissions (includes penalties)

  3. Individual deadline: A period set for an individual under certain circumstances

Assignments needs to be submitted on or before their respective due dates. Failure to submit an assignment without notification to the lecturer/Registrar or Dean at least 2 days before due date will result in the following penalties on the assignment score:

  • After deadline but before grace period end) 10% penalty

  • After Grace period: 0% score for Assignment (100% penalty)

  • Late submission after Individual deadline: 0% score for Assignment (100% penalty)

  1. Re-writes, re-examination and failing of a subject or course.

On failing an exam, re-writing an exam will be charged at the fee as stipulated by the board from time to time for each subject. This will only be allowed if it is possible to determine that passing the exam will also constitute a ‘pass’ on the subject. The student must apply for a re-write and agree to the date on the re-write as determined by the lecturer.

Should a student fail a subject completely the Student will be accountable for full curriculum fees (all outstanding fees for subject). The student will need to apply for a re-examination, which means the student will need to pay the FULL curriculum fee for the subject, re-submit all assignments and re-write all exams.
